Habitat volunteers help build, repair homes for families in need

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dallas is marking "North Texas Giving Day" with a project in Dallas's Oak Cliff neighborhood. The nonprofit is building two homes on Elsie Faye Heggins Street, and volunteers will be on-site to help with construction. The homes will be dedicated to two families in need. One family is led by a single mother of three who has been working hard to provide a better life for her children. The other family is a couple with two young children who have been living in a cramped apartment. Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization that helps families in need build and repair homes. The organization has been working in Dallas for more than 30 years, and has built or repaired more than 1,000 homes in the city. "North Texas Giving Day" is a 24-hour online giving event that takes place each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The event raises money for nonprofits in North Texas. Habitat for Humanity is one of many nonprofits participating in "North Texas Giving Day." The organization hopes to raise $100,000 during the event. The money will be used to help build and repair homes for families in need in Dallas. "We are so grateful for the support of the North Texas community," said Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dallas CEO and President Julie Ann Rivers. "Every dollar we raise will help us build and repair homes for families in need."
